Sinitta thinks Cheryl Cole could still have a job
'Who said she's been axed?' she asked OK!TV.
'Has anyone heard Simon say she's been fired? All the reports that I've heard had said that she's doing really well on the show.
'Being a judge on one of these shows is like being in Dynasty. Who gets to sit next to Simon? The girls are fighting over him.'
Until she speaks to Simon herself, Sinitta, 42, isn't prepared to believe the rumours.
'Someone's taken something and run with it. Maybe her mum needs to fly over to America. People are freaking out and cussing out on Twitter.
'I say hang on just a minute. Simon is back in the UK and shortly any minute now, hopefully, we will know more.'
American audiences are said to have been struggling to understand 27-year-old Cheryl's Newcastle accent.
The feisty Geordie's lack of chemistry with fellow judge Paula Abdul, 48, has also been blamed for her reported exit from the show - and her own homesickness.
And some suspect it is all simply a publicity stunt.
'Simon's a shrewd guy - he knows his business and knows full well that if there's no chemistry between the guys on the panel you've got to change it,' DJ Neil Fox tells Channel 4 News.
'Is it all panto? Is [Cheryl] going to come back to the UK X Factor? Ohhh, can we stand the excitement?
'You kind of think she probably would but she's going to have to come back with her tail between her legs because I think this was the American dream and at the moment it's shattered.'
In 2007, Louis Walsh was axed from The X Factor, only to be given back his job.
Kelly Brook was dropped from Britain's Got Talent in 2009 after only 6 days of filming but failed to boomerang back.
