Southland gas prices continue rise to highest since July 2008

LOS ANGELES - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose nine-tenths of a cent today to $4.27, the highest price since July 31, 2008.

The 38th increase in 40 days pushed the average price 4.3 cents higher than one week ago, 21.3 cents above what it was one month ago and $1.154 greater than it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

However, the average price is 35.6 cents less than the record high of $4.626 set on June 21, 2008.

The Orange County average price rose nine-tenths of a cent today to $4.249, the highest since July 30, 2008.

The 38th increase in 40 days pushed the Orange County price 3.7 cents higher a week ago, 20.3 cents above what it was one month ago and $1.131 greater than one year ago.

The average price is 34.9 cents less than the record high of $4.598 set on June 19, 2008.
